Some enterprising music in today's broadcast. A lovely if gentle sound from the girl choristers celebrating their 25th foundation year. ATBs sounding in fine fettle. Definitely a choir 'on the up' IMVHO.

Yes, yes, fine, on-their-toes singing from all. And by no means straightforward either!

As I mentioned on the Exeter Boys Live thread last month, I also attended this recording.

And I'm delighted that it sounds every bit as good on the broadcast as it did in situ. Personally I think the current Exeter Girls have an absolutely lovely tone to their voices, and the psalms were every bit as delicious on the radio as they had been at the time, listening no more than ten feet away from the participants.

Interestingly I felt at the time (but didn't like to say so) that the Antiphons didn't sound entirely secure, but you'd have to be hyper-critical to spot that on the broadcast.

Another Hats Off to Timothy Noon and the Exeter teams, we're getting damned close to what I consider to be the old glory days of the Nethsingha/Morgan era, when I thought nothing of regularly driving a considerable distance to attend run of the mill weekday Evensongs. I was never disappointed, and I'm thinking that I must get back into the habit.

A big Well Done from me.

A special short service with only three choristers has today been posted to YouTube.

With so many choirs gone away I thought it may be ok to share it here:

We can’t be together in our churches at the moment but we can worship together. Bishop Jackie has recorded a special Mothering Sunday service at Exeter Cathe...
