    The Cardinall's Music

The above gave a splendid lunchtime concert today on R3.

Listen without limits, with BBC Sounds. Catch the latest music tracks, discover binge-worthy podcasts, or listen to radio shows – all whenever you want

The theme was music composed in the reign of James I which had some connection (occasionally tenuous) with the politics around the Gunpowder Plot.

The tuning of the ensemble was amazing. My only wish was that it might have been given in a London church rather than the Wigmore, where I felt the singers, maybe especially the two excellent sopranos, had to 'work harder' to sustain their sound.

I quite enjoyed this concert even if my attention did wander at times. Might this message garner more responses if it was transferred to the 'Lunchtime Concerts one stop shop' thread?

It's already there! Doversoul posted it up in advance. I just thought putting it on The Choir too might be a good idea. As I have said in the past [about the Early Music Forum] absence of (or few) online comments doesn't necessarily mean that no-one has listened to a particular programme.
