    St. Peter's, Wolverhampton at Winchester

I hope that this falls within the remit of this group.

I'd be interested in your thoughts on the sound produced by the girls and back row from St. Peter's Collegiate Church, Wolverhampton and a recording from Winchester during our Summer Tour there (the boys went to Durham).

Amateur recording, amateur choir, with the organ being a little loud in places due to placement of the microphone.

I hope you can review this using the links below:

This was our last set of services with our Acting DoM, Callum Alger who goes on to be Organ Scholar at Westminster Cathedral.

Many thanks for your time and attention.

Does it not load at all? Maybe try moving the slider at the bottom forwards a second or two?
I may just upload it all to YouTube which may be more reliable...

Just had a quick listen - very nice! Good balance and an excellent top line. Well done! Lovely to see that it not just the football team which is flourishing in Wolverhampton!

Heard them sometime last year during the holiday season singing at Westminster Abbey:they were very good.

This year's unexpected holiday pleasure was catching Coventry Cathedral (Boys plus mixed lower voices) singing Purcell in B flat and 'Jehova quam multi' whilst they in residence at York Minster ten days or so ago.

Nicely observed note values, good phrasing and a pervading spirituality.

                    Top effort!

                        from me too.

Great that a few major Parish Churches keep up the standard. Does anyone know what goes on these days at places such as St James, Grimsby, Selby Abbey, Beverley Minster, Christchurch Priory, Wimborne Minster, etc, etc ?

Remember 'Leeds Parish Church'? Once regularly on R3 CE. Became Leeds Minster and....:
                          From their website:
"For many years, under the leadership of many notable and distinguished musicians, Leeds was the only parish church choir in the country singing daily choral services, and the choir held its place within the “cathedral” tradition of the nation. However, it had become clear by the last years of the twentieth century that this was no longer tenable and in the autumn of 2015 the decision was taken to suspend the boys’ and girls’ choirs of the Minster (as the church had been created in 2012)."

So St Peter's should feel very lucky!

Not so much 'luck' as (probably) inspired leadership, musically and otherwise.
