Probably Joseph Beech's last act as AMOM at St Mary's: he starts duties as Sub-Organist at Durham Cathedral next month: https://www.durhamcathedral.co.uk/ne...rham-cathedral

I don't think I've ever heard the Stainer Canticles before - that top Bb near the end of the Mag came as a shock (in a nice way). What fun!

Oh dear, I wonder what happened to the Harris. Quick dive for the volume control to extinguish an otherwise enjoyable evensong.

Change of personnel - I understand that Duncan Ferguson is unwell, so Joseph Beech was promoted to conducting duties and James Orford to the organ (as back-announced), hence the change of voluntary. The Leighton proved an appropriate bookend to the introit, I thought, and sounded great.

.... but it's not really your "fare" is it DracoM.....

Laters - I should add that although I was personally disappointed with the change to the advertised voluntary, I say <<hats off>> to James Orford for stepping into the breach today so admirably.

I would have said that your musical preferences are pretty plain to see to those of us who have been around for a while - just as mine are....

Many congratulations to both Joseph and James - both superb musicians, as evidenced in this broadcast.

Somehow it didn't feel like Evensong to me without an Old Testament lesson. Is this an Episcopal Church of Scotland peculiarity?
