Loved - really loved - the rendition of the psalms, chants, articulation, pace, and a treble tone that I found greatly preferable to some of the other adult colleges. In fact as the final psalm came to its end I found that my speed in the car - thankfully on a deserted lane - had dropped dramatically, in sympathy with the absolutely delcious rall so beautifully executed.

I enjoyed this service, and unlike some other mixed-voice university choirs the front row did not drown out the back row. Although as with the Merton broadcast I felt a bit sorry for the clergyman singing the collects.

Disclaimer: I sang for a time for Sarah MacDonald in the choir at Little St Mary's Church, Cambridge. I imagine it was she who composed the first chant - was it in 5 parts?

Yes, unfussy, clear, no pretensions, nicely delivered.
Basses a tad stretched at the bottom Z they had to sing unaccompanied, but...
          Many thx all.

Wasn't it nice to hear the psalms for the day and not just portions or one or two of them. Three very apt chants (all with a Selwyn connection) the first by Sarah MacDonald the Director of Music, the second by her predecessor Andrew Jones and the third (one of 20 or so written) by alumni, John Barnard.

John Barnard (a Selwyn graduate) also composed the tune of the final hymn.

I enjoyed the service immensely; the highlight for me was the MacMillan, stunningly performed.
Contrary to comments above I could have done with a little more treble within the balance especially in the psalms where the treble line didn't blend too well and exposed individual voices. Occasionally one soprano singer anticipated the beat in their enthusiasm at various points within the service. But hey, just MO. Thank you.
