The anthem is a new one to me...probably this:

....one of the many written by church composers through the ages to celebrate the Festival of the Sons of the Clergy. (Wot no daughters??)

Is it for double choir + baritone solo?

I did. I was disappointed. I won't be listening to the repeat.
The organist seemed to have a good time.

Phil Scriven (+1 other?) did a great job. The choir was full-voiced (maybe too much for some) but well-directed as one would expect from David Hill.

A live one from Merton next week.

Your man likes a full-voiced choral sound, as do I, but this was something of an endurance test. Fine voices and a very fine baritone solo, but the overall vocal deportment was not to my taste. Sorry - no t'anks!

It was the topline that ruined it for me. I had to turn the volume down which reduced what I could hear of the other parts, which did seem to be doing OK. The Nunc demonstrated what the choir could sound like if the ladies piped down and stopped screeching and wobbling - rather like a certain well known vocal ensemble much discussed on this forum....

Tenors had a decent time too, but.........yes, that top line...........Merton, you say? Good.
