    BBC House of Cards

The 1990's series with Ian Richardson. Just re-viewing by chance.
    Hmm. And wow!

Given what is happening in our UK politics today............scarily prescient.
    Brilliantly written and acted too.

As one who worked in that milieu from the late 1990s, I couldn't possibly comment.

I recently bought all 3 series in a local charity shop for the princely sum of £3 and greatly enjoyed watching them again. Scarily prescient indeed! Ian Richardson always played the villain to perfection, I thought, although he could also do satirical comedy, for example as in 'Porterhouse Blue'.

Everyone raves about the US version (or at least did until the allegations against Kevin Spacey), but very few people seem to credit the brilliance of the BBC original.

Incidentally, did you mean to post this on The Choir? Can't remember if there was any choral music in it.

The original BBC version was indeed brilliant. I'm sure this was in no small part due to the fact that the author had been an advisor to Margaret Thatcher and the Conservative Party Chief of Staff. You can't help but feel that there's a lot of truth underpinning his fiction.

It was a brave man - or woman - who chose to refer to the PM by his initials.....

To be honest, if you hadn't posted it here I almost certainly wouldn't have seen it!
