Loved the Handel, and the Tallis, and the Boyce.

Gosepl choirs not really my thing. But what a sermon!

Yep. Great Sermon . I wonder if C of E sermons were a bit more Bishop Curry and a little less Rev Ascoyne they might bump up the congregation numbers . Loved the Balm of Gilead reference - but wondered whether the audience might take this as name checking A Handmaid's Tale..

Flowers by Philippa Craddock, who I've never heard of but have now. LOTS of foliage - all locally sourced and somewhere in the arrangement some hornbeam. You don't see that very often. Sermon a bit ott for me , but music well worth staying tuned in for. The specially commissioned trumpet fanfare was good.
And the tune ends too soon for us all

There are fastigiate hornbeam along the Eton College (as against Windsor) Long Walk. Perhaps that was the rationale.

Terrific. ("With this, I'll sit down - we gotta get y'all married" ! )

Just catching up (in order, as with R3, Young Musician etc, to avoid all the TV presentational guff) .... That preacher was The Real Thing. What a breath of fresh air.

And I'll take "Stand By Me" over the Rutter any day of the week!

..... oh and yes, great to hear Handel before (David Blackadder nailed his trumpet obligato nervelessly even better than Elin MT sang, I thought), Tallis during and Boyce after. Perfect.

"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
                Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

I shall be eternally grateful to whoever (whomever?) decided to include in yesterday's 6.00 p.m.news on Radio 4 the fact that the cellist was black. I must have another look at the Young Musician final in order to reassess his performance of the movement from the Elgar cello concerto.

At the time, until I saw her, I didn't believe it was Elin MT singing...(just me?)

First time I heard the Boyce. Quite enjoyed that. All the music was lovely!

                        whomever

As for the black reference, I agree that this is irrelevant, and a kind of inverted racism. Many of the BBC commentators merely regurgitate the first think that entered their tiny brains.

Do you really think that Sheku's skin tone was not a consideration when it came to choosing a cellist for the job? What I have more trouble with is the Duchess of Sussex's reference to herself as being "biracial". As any geneticist worth their salt will advise, there are no races within the species Homo sapiens. "Bi-ethnic", maybe, but "biracial"? It's just not possible.

                            Really?

It's NOT irrelevant if you were young and black and wanting to play an instrument.
