Looking forward to a delicious Moulin-à-Vent rather than Beaujolais Nouveau.

I can see the liquid metaphors flowing for weeks on this! Maybe down to a sunless sea.........? Or...!

The first page of Phillip Cooke’s new canticles has been posted by the composer on the Choral Evensong Appreciation Society Facebook page.

Are there any copyright rules about this? Just interested, not trying to be critical.
Unless, of course, the poster owns the copyright................??!

Vol hugely worth waiting for! Anothr glass of that, please!

                    BUT
as before in this annual relay of this event from St Pancras, I'm afraid it was the vibrato on the top line that absolutely did for me, and possibly the Judith Bingham anthem which needed such uncluttered delivery. I'd love to have heard that sung by a Baltic choir.

Oh dear, I'm gong to get bashed for even thinking it, let alone saying it.

There was a lot of vibrato, it cannot be denied.

After the annual St Pancras bash, I always find myself asking what 'contemporary' means. OK, I know its literal meaning, but.........

I have to say this annual "event" is one that does little for me, but I did hear the last ten minutes. The vibrato on show didn't make me sorry I'd missed the rest, although I tittered at the very obvious tussle over tempo in the final hymn.

Personally I thought the voluntary more suited to accompanying a silent film. Yes, very clever, but had I been at Divine Service I'd have hurried out as soon as it started. Is that what's wanted....?

Is there any reason why this event has become an annual BBC thing? By which I mean, why is it relayed without fail year after year? Not being really my cup of tea, I'm perhaps not as aware of its "significance" as others on here.

All that said, I shall try and dip into the rest of the broadcast via iplayer, it might be good for me....

I heard some of this by accident, as I was out shopping after taking stuff to the dump. I really didn't like the last organ piece much - was it the sound of that particular organ, or was it just the way the piece was written which gave that effect? When was the organ made?
