....because I've always thought that a step too far. The 'diabolic' interval involving 3 whole tones was surely a no-no in Allegri's time. But we can't be certain it didn't arise from some wild improviatory Italian!
(The 'fun' CD I mentioned in #9 earlier uses it a lot.)

Much more than mere 'fun': sublime IMV, sung as well as on this CD production... of course very different from the circumstances of a live broadcast by some very young singers. New College's recent recordings on their own Novum label have been of superlative quality.
