I took choralmike to be saying that he took photos of the building, as he said, ‘during the interval’.

Peterborough’s attitude would appear to be ‘pay us 3 quid, and then snap away’.

Erm...............look, I wonder if you'd like to start a new thread on cathedrals and photo-taking?
This has got way off the original.

KCC will have now begun the formal process with long-listed applicants, according to the dates published with the original advertisement. Those 'in the know' will be able to enquire as to who is away from their respective posts for a couple of days at present and then pool their information to work out the list!

They might just be at the dentist or having a minibreak, so don't get too excited. KCC also may have chosen to follow a different process altogether, despite what it said in the advert. I don't really know, and neither does anybody else who's likely to post it about here.

Oh dear. Doesn't sound too promising?

Do you think the BBC gives whispers behind hands on this given how much KCC is core of their Xmas schedule?
I'm asking out of genuine ignorance and interest, not as any kind of hint or nod at all.

Those in the BBC with a concern will know, I'm sure.

I'm pretty sure we'd agree on who should get it, if I may be so bold. Won't be too long now!

Must continue with writing some more 3rd rate choral music - the deadline looms!

                A bientôt!

                  Hello all,

I'm a new poster as I normally just read posts/lurk on here, as I'm sure a large number of other people do. Please please can I urge everyone in this forum to refrain from discussing the ongoing selection processes and short/longlists for jobs. As we're all aware, the choral world is incredibly small and you really don't have any idea who is reading these posts. What you're saying, whether based on rumour, truth or just pure speculation could have an impact on the psychologies of individuals (and their families) for whom these jobs are not fodder for gossip but in many cases major life decisions and upheavals.

It's fantastic that everyone cares so much about choral music in the UK, and it's lovely to be part of a community of enthusiasts, but I don't think anyone on here would want to cause upset, worry or confusion, and yet posts about selection processes, and candidates are likely to do just that!

Welcome! I quite agree. Frankly, I'm not really much interested in knowing who has been unsuccessful. The only thing that matters is the final decision. To be fair, though, no one has named any names.

Welcome from me too, Choralcaution. Firstly, what a great 'Forum name' to adopt, even if, as you've no doubt gathered, it wouldn't suit many of us. But secondly, I don't think The Powers That Be will take much notice of our online witterings...unless, that is, they heed the rather obvious point about choosing a charismatic (and proven) choir-trainer. Which we all hope for.

I'm not sure there is any link to the thread title...unless there's some elaborate game of musical chairs going on!
