Since the service is not listed on the parish website ( http://www.tavistockparishchurch.org.uk/services/ ) that seems a reasonable assumption.

In view of the way they're dressed in the picture, I hope it's the case!

Their 2017 festival flyer confirms it:

      A SEQUENCE FOR EPIPHANY
      FRIDAY 4 AUGUST 4.00pm

Recording for BBC Radio 3, to be broadcast in 2018

The Exon Singers (with whom I once sang on a summer tour) used to shiver their way through a post-Christmas session at Tewkesbury Abbey, during which they would do a live broadcast. The BBC Genome site suggests this last happened in December 2003. So there is a tradition of hearing them on Radio 3 at this time of year.

Indeed. Usually Edington attracts a very good group of different ensembles, well disciplined and expressive.

The celebration of the Epiphany is on January 6th or on the Sunday nearest to it. This is q very early celebration.

But we were live back then and there has been a change or two in both line-up and carver since. Happy days...ineffectually warming ourselves around the old Gurneys between rehearsal and broadcast.

                      Just a bit.

As for today's 'broadcast', it verged (for my taste anyway) on religiosity; especially inappropriate as it's not Epiphany yet, and as it was recorded in August. The two 'Reflections' (read 'Sermons') were IMHO hammering home very trad. Christian dogma. I know that Radio 3's CE is technically part of the BBC's religious broadcasting quota, but I don't think most of us regard it as such.

As for the Exons, they sounded quite good in quieter moments, but the ffs, especially in the soprano department, sounded unnecessarily forced. All in all, I was not left with a Good Epiphany Experience, though I did enjoy hearing some new pieces.

Having said all that, Exons, all power to your elbows, and may you continue to enjoy your Summertime gatherings in the spirit suggested by Finzi4 above.

Not when we can clearly see through it, at any rate.

It ought to be added that the acoustic in St Euslace, Tavistock is not, by any definition, flattering.

Fair point, VH, esp in comparison with The Exons' traditional tx locations, Buckfast & Tewkesbury. That said the voices seemed a little 'tired' from their week's festival.
I'm guessing your excellent pun 'St Euslace' (above) was intentional...

Alas, it was, but only in relation to the acoustic.
