The best bee keepers are invariably miserable elderly men worn to a shred by a lifetime of hot, heavy, frustrating physical work often in difficult conditions Fyi historically, the bee keeper was regarded as lower than the swine herd in agricultural communities But not any more, of course. Along with the popularity of eating vegetables, traditionally seen as staple food for peasant folk while only the rich ate meat, bee keeping is now the height of fashion and the preserve of the chattering classes

A pretty setting to some difficult worlds. I liked the carol
Only heard it today. Pity, might just have voted for it.

Particularly relished the piano part: see #20 above
I keep hitting the Escape key, but I'm still here!

Listeners may be interested to know that the winning carol of the 2018 competition will be performed during this year’s Carols from King’s.

        Which one is that?

All the winners are on the BBC MM Christmas issue CD (Vol 32, No 3).

Ruthlessly sung by the BBS Singers.
            Bang on! Good Adverb!

              It's the Bee Carol:

Let's see what King's make of it, and whether anyone has written an organ part.

I don't see it in their Nine Lessons and Carols service; you must mean a different broadcast.

A service of carols, hymns and readings live from the Chapel of King's College, Cambridge.

I said Carols from King's, which is the television one.

In 2018, the competition wasn't dumbed down. The final version of the winning carol was what the composer actually wrote - not a patronising mish-mash with the unwanted additions of a BBC puppet.

Quite. I find it impossible to take this competition seriously any more.
