    Sunday Worship from Bangor.

I hardly ever tune in to Sunday Worship, but Radio 4 happened to be on, and I thought that the cathedral choir of Bangor (which we don't hear much about) did a good job. Contrasting anthems by Mathias and Harris among other things. Also some (possibly apocryphal?) stuff about St Deiniol.

The 6th century saint Deiniol provides inspiration for live worship from Bangor Cathedral.

I enjoyed this service and the very spirited singing, with the top line being the glory of the choir. I felt a lot of the service was geared to showing off the choir and why not? I'd like to hear them in a CE. Isn't this the cathedral where George Guest and Aled Jones were members of the music department at the start of their respective careers?

Nice too to hear some real ecclestiastical music from that service, instead of the happy-clappy banalities that seemed to have taken over the airwaves every Sunday at ten past eight on R4 when I take my morning bath!)

<< with the top line being the glory of the choir. >>

Spot on..........they sound totally confident of who they are, sing unafraid and joyfully. Big tone, and particularly loved the whackng lower register of that top line.
