Very nice to see the fine tenor and composer, William Petter (a former colleague) being honoured in this service. He died recently of a rare cancer. I believe a recording has been made of his choral works.

A lot of that wasn't as bad as I feared (this annual event is one that I dread frankly) and I did indeed find William Petter's contributions actually very much to my tastes, with the added poignancy of his passing.

But the voluntary? To be honest I thought it was ghastly.

And I know that will be the cue for everyone else to tell me I'm completely wrong - as you all always rush to do in these circumstances. But it's the sort of voluntary that would have me hurrying out of the building. Sorry.

AAMOI, on average, how many of the pieces that annually appear in this Festival get taken on board widely?
I ask because, admittedly only to my ear, so many pieces in the Festival strike me as sufficiently daunting to sing, I wondered how many actually found their way into repertoires.
