Good to see G&C making a Tallis pilgrimage. Looking forward to it. Very intrigued about Spem in Alium. Have they got some 'extras' on board? And is the organ scholar a relative of the late Tony Hewitt Jones?

Lovely tight ensemble, helped by back-desks with light, straight voices. Geoffrey Webber, as well as being a fine choral director, is something of a scholar, so I guess he attempted to capture the sound of post-Reformation Tallis...Spem in Alium excepted, of course. Talking of which, I am just inquiring from someone in-the-know where the extra voices came from. I suspect a round-up of ex-Choral Exhibitioners. Does anyone know for certain?

Nothing flashy, but well-disciplined, beautifully balanced singing. No lingering and indulging.
The canticles not my favourite, but there was no getting away from the carefully planned focus and understated devotion here.
Back rows not at all aggressively jostling, but rather contributory to and supportive of others in a strong team.
I do hope those who took part have listened to it with just a smidge of happy awe at what they did.

Indeed, but the size of the choir (and indeed that singing most of the service) was around 20. There were obviously about 20 extras who joined in for the OVPP Spem.
