    Thanks and Congratulations

As FrenchFrank notes this forum has been up and running now for 6 months.
I would like to propose a vote of thanks to him, and to all the moderators, hosts and other facilitators. This forum stepped in to welcome refugees from Radio 3's message board for The Choir, and has been a source of great interest, debate and good fellowship. Thank you for letting us be part of a fine online community.

Like any self-respecting fourth entry in this fugue of Ts & Cs to FF, I add my voice to the chorus - fortissimo in the dominant!

            Nom d'une pipe!

Thank you for the expressions of appreciation (I will pass them on to 'Frank'!). But in setting up and running the forum it's impossible not to be grateful to all those who have contributed, to the benefit of all. And my thanks too to the Hosts who keep the interesting topics going.

I'm particularly pleased that this board (The Choir) has become such a focus not only for people who appreciate the tradition of Anglican church music but also the many who are actively involved with the choirs. It's been a great success - thanks to all.

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Heartfelt thanks to FF from me as well. Here's to the future.

Better late than never, I trust... :)

I'm also delighted that this thread has continued in the way of the old ones, and I add my own voice in sincere thanks to FF and the others at FoR3 who have set up and run this forum so well.

If memory serves me, it was in 2006 that Alison and I started the regular CE threads, so they've been going now for at least 5 years. Somewhere, I have the very first one saved, which I'll try to find. Some of you may find it of brief interest.

I gather from Rachael that I've a few recordings of CE to listen to that have stacked up whilst I've been away, so that's something to look forward to if your comments on here, which I've briefly scanned, are anything to go by (as I'm sure they are).

It's good to be back and I hope you're all well and happy.

                    Best,

                    Simon

As a relatively new member, I have only just read this thread. I absolutely applaud and have pleasure in adding my appreciation to FF, his colleagues and predecessors for making available this splendid facility. I am quite ashamed that I have only recently learned to navigate this splendid facilty.

Lizzie's last post rekindled memories of singing (as a treble in the 50's) "The Spacious Firmament on High" by HK Andrews. Is this splendid anthem still performed?

Wow. H.K. Andrews. I dimly remember singing a Mag and Nunc by him, but I've definitley got a musty tome of his about harmony or counterpoint or both lurking somewhere. Must look out for The Spacious Firmament....

The pp phrase "What, though, in solemn silence...." always had the effect of sending shivers down one's spine. No doubt the anthem by HKA was in the repertory because our OMC had been taught/influenced by him when at Oxford!
