Whether or not it would be a 'horror' (some might remember the original broadcast) I couldn't say.
An archive CE wasn't the horror I had in mind. I was assuming that the vacated slot might be filled by some other concoction such as Forrces Wives Ocarina Ensembles; or even Forces Husbands. And someone else can stick the apostrophes in the right place if they fee the need!
OTOH, having a CE on a Sunday, be it repeat, archive or whatever, probably goes some way to fulfilling the BBC's quota of religious broadcasting.

I happen to find the CotW repeat useful(lacking suitable alternative platforms) but am aware that it's increasingly a questionable bit of programming in some respects - although in others, such as saving money, it presumably has its merits....
Sorry if the crime police reaction seemed heavy handed!

No problem, that wasn't how I took it, and in any case since I have been known to pick up on such things myself it would be unreasonable to take agin the tables being turned...

Good point. Since Wednesday broadcasts are available on iPlayer for a while, I wonder whether there might be a case for having live broadcasts on Wednesdays and archive ones on Sundays. I write, however, as someone who wouldn't object to having seven Choral Evensong broadcasts per week.

I have long felt this. I guess it all boils down to money, but I long for a return to the '60s and early '70s when there seemed to be so many more performances that were not simply "spinning a disc". Live performances, and commissioned ones, are what could (and should) really set R3 apart from Classic FM - if the money were available - which it isn't.
