    A Roomful of Teeth

Caroline Shaw's Allemande (from Partita for Singers) was played on Breakfast today. The New York based choral group A Roomful of Teeth gave it a spectacular performance. It sounded quite close-miked (rather in the manner of some Kings Singers recordings) but pulled out from the bag of choral tricks some quirky examples including extremes of tonal colour, glissandi and 'bending' notes using quarter-tones. Really worth a listen. The only group I know doing this sort of thing in the UK is Exaudi. (I must draw this piece to their attention!)

Elizabeth Alker presents Radio 3's breakfast show, with an instalment of Power of Three.

Not in quite the same vein, but are you familiar with the work of Vocal Constructivists?

A few examples of what they do here.

Totally amazing - looking forward to their next choral Evensong.
          Who needs an organ?

Vocal technique and sense of both fun and genuine musicianship on show.

Perhaps the Conservative member for Monmouth would like dentists to checkout this Roomful...

How appalling that was! In any case, it is not possible to be accurate to within a couple of years, so I am told. Homo sapiens does not have tree rings.

It's only just occurred to me how appropriate the title of his constituency is!
