9 L&C Streaming from Ripon Cathedral (23 December 2015 @5:30p)

Well, this looks like an interesting endeavour! Through the CofE's "@churchlive" project, which uses the Periscope app to stream a weekly service, Ripon Cathedral will be video-broadcasting its service of Lessons and Carols today at 5:30p.

I'm still working out how exactly to use Periscope, but it seems that it's a mobile device-only download associated with Twitter. On downloading and signing into the app and following @churchlive, it appears that you receive a notice of a new broadcast and simply follow the notice to tune in.

Hi, if people missed this and would like to listen and watch, the videos are still available at this link - https://www.periscope.tv/riponcathedral.

They work as they are on computers, but if you want to play it on a phone or tablet, you need to download the Periscope App.

Obviously it was filmed on a phone, so the quality isn't the same as a live television broadcast, but hopefully something of the atmosphere of the service will come across, especially in the choir only pieces.

For those who are interested, the Cathedral Choir will also be broadcasting Morning Worship on Radio 4 at 9am on Christmas Day, including a very thought-provoking sermon from Bishop Nick Baines.
