Very concerned to read in The Church Times this week that the boys choir at Leeds has been temporarily disbanded by the new Rector as it currently has only three boys.
Evidently it recruits from just one school at present and they are looking at extending this to other schools in the city along with a complete overhaul of the set up.
It is surprising that the parish church ( now called Leeds Minster, I believe ) with its well established musical tradition in a city with a strong musical culture is having problems like this but hopefully they will sort it out.
The boys have been required to attend on six days a week which is possibly too much of a commitment these days unlike in its glory days under Donald Hunt.
It has certainly been a long time since they broadcast CE.
