A firm date in the diary - the foreign Christmas cards will be tackled en même temps...
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
        Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Malheureusement je chant avec une chorale chaque Dimanche de l'Avent en meme temps. St Jean? Il me manque.

A firm date in my diary too. This service is always the signal for the Christmas countdown and looking forward to singing along with my customary gusto to Helmsley, surely one of the best ever hymn tunes. No neighbours to worry about so will let rip!

                enjoy your singing, Pet.
That hymn is absolute favourite of mine too.

Yes - must be many years since they all moved away....!

Live in an end terrace house with my listening room at the non-neighbour end so, as I absolutely hate using headphones, I'm very lucky. As are the neighbours.

Yes, I'm looking forward to this too. We sang Helmsley at church this morning, and I'll sing it again this pm.

It seems to have been a few years since Gibbons' This is the record of John has been sung. A pity, I think. Does anyone know why it's dropped off the radar?

Usually done when there is an exceptional counter tenor in the backrows. I'm sure it will make a comeback soon.

Thanks OG. I eventually found it but the website doesn't make it easy does it?

As an alternative to emptied houses all around yours, I had visions of something like this dwelling...

                              but you have dispelled them!

On topic - I enjoyed this service. A good helping of Howells always helps. Well sung all round, I thought.
