'Time Out' guide to choral evensong services

Regular visitors to this part of the forum may be interested in this. My attention was drawn to it by Ian Skelly on Breakfast this morning, but the item also made it into the i.

'Time Out' guide to choral evensong services

MrGongGong has drawn my attention to two articles which may interest CE enthusiasts:

And from York Minster: a new interfaith work.
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

Two threads merged - sorry didn't spot OG's reference.

Dr Hayward said: “Hopefully, it will make people realise what a big tradition choral evensong is. It’s at a nice time of day, between the end of work and dinner, and it’s free.”

        Sigh emoticon.

        Sorry, off topic.

Gosh, and I thought it was something to do with religious observance.

Surely, many people listen to Choral Evensong on R3 only to hear some excellent music?

Yes, but they're not really supposed to. God forbid it might take on the role of concert.

I am afraid the bold print applies largely to me...for whom Pope has no hope. However, even if the spiritual aspect of church music is only a by-product (of doctrine, architecture, art and the rest) I am un-apologetic.

Where does form end and content begin?

Does one have to wear a suit to go to Choral Evensong...

...I'll get mine (coat, that is)
