It strikes me as rather commendable that Anna L has kept the Pembroke job in spite of her progress onto the international
    concert stage.

There are musicians who seem able to hold down several demanding roles at once - for example, think of Stephen Cleobury at King's and conducting the BBC Singers, as well as giving solo recitals, guest conducting etc. Anna Lapwood has been at Pembroke College (not formerly a major player on the Cambridge choral scene) for some years now and was young when appointed so it would not be an unreasonably short tenure if she were to move on.

Pembroke is two weekday evenings and Sundays during term, plenty of time for the director to do other work.

I'd like to see Anna get the DoM of Winchester Cathedral Choir post, when that is next advertised.

She is a fantastic musician and strikes me as being a great leader and an inspiring teacher - Pembroke College sound wonderful under her.

It would also help bring a famous Choir to an even wider audience: just what the doctor has ordered after a difficult time there.

This programme is repeated this afternoon (1500 GMT ) on Classical Live, which may be easier for some than looking it up in BBC Sounds. .

                Not quite the case, smittins.
It's its first outing, in the regular Wednesday Choral Evensong slot.

You got there before me. It's a recorded service yes, but first outing today. The repeat is Sunday at 3-00pm.

Ha, ha! thanks for the correction. Silly me, I had assumed it was first broadcast on the feast of The Epiphany! (although recorded in Autumn last year ). So much for Classical Live!

That's been my grumble/criticism ever since the April rebrand, which has seen live content reduced to the once a week Wigmore Hall spot(down from each weekday) and the very occasional live contribution from one of the BBC ensembles. But CE isn't Classical Live and has long been a mix of recorded and live - admittedly the balance seems to have gone rather more towards the recorded now, but with perhaps rather more justification(OBs around the country), but at least the title doesn't mislead in the way CL does.

Trinity in Richard Marlow’s time used to complete the trio of services from Cambridge celebrating Advent to Epiphany. On today’s showing I’d be very happy for Pembroke to fill the Epiphany slot. A lovely expressive sound from the choir with many special hushed moments. A beautiful, reflective service of music and scripture.

I thought the Pembroke service particularly well-planned, the items of music selected apparently to fit the occasion and one another. I found a homogeneity which seemed deliberate in contrast ,say, to the diverse items we hear in the King's 'Festival'. I thought this about the music for the Coronation too. Maybe it's a trend beginning.
