    Sir Philip Ledger

Mention of a Ledger recording on another thread has led me wondering why he seems to have been largely forgotten in the King's College Choir discography.

There have been Willcocks and Cleobury boxes on Decca but Ledger's recordings (mostly EMI) continue to languish in the vaults.

A Ledger/King's box from Warner would be most welcome!

Absolutely! His choir is my favourite King’s sound, not hooty as Willcock’s was prone to be and excited to sing and communicate as Cleobury’s often wasn’t. His descants matched Willcocks and occasionally surpassed them, as for example ‘O come, O come, Emmanuel’.
