" On Friday 9 October at 5 pm [ in St Paul's ] prayers of commendation will be offered, echoing his funeral service on Saturday 12 September at St Thomas Church, New York, where he was latterly Organist and Director of Music.
A memorial service to celebrate his life and work will take place at St Paul’s in 2016 and further details will be available in due course. In the meantime, everyone is welcome to join us on Friday 9 October. "

The BBC R3 Choral Evensong schedule has been updated and includes:
28th October - repeat of John Scott's last broadcast from St Paul's, including the appropriate Howells and Parry's 'Lord, let me know mine end'
23rd December - archive episode from St Thomas, New York including Tallis and Sheppard and JS playing Garth Edmundson at the end

Etiquette surrounding funerals appears to have been forgotten. A funeral is essentially a private rite and a family occasion, and in some cases, open only to the immediate family. Webcasting the choir in the singing of the Opus Dei is one thing; using the facility while a family commits a loved one (however revered by others) to God's keeping is quite another. We should respect Lily Scott's decision, and any 'upset' really pales into insignificance when compared to her grief at the loss of a husband and father of her child.

If you've not yet listened, may I strongly recommend http://www.sjcchoir.co.uk/listen/web...?autoplay=true
This supremely talented choir's ?first (broadcast) performance of Philip Moore's canticles in memory of the late, great JS. Both settings are powerfully appropriate in the circumstances, unsurprisingly beautiful and deserve to be recognised and adopted across the world of church music.

Phew, yes!! And not for the faint-hearted, either. Make sure you have a cracking alto, steely-willed treble soloist and a serious organist as well.

Many thx for this. I do hope that St Thomas's Choir NYC sing it as well some time?
