The Introit was a declaration of intent for what followed. A thrilling start to any service. The singing was by turns forcefully dramatic and then caressingly tender. The Leighton music was the star turn, closely followed by a stunning voluntary. The singing was always in tune and well balanced, aided by excellent engineering. Thanks to everyone at the cathedral for a very moving service.
PS. The only way to hear this service is on Sounds as it’s not repeated on Sunday.

          [a] yes - Leighton good.
[b] why no repeat I wondered? Wretched Proms - and I do mean, even if I am ashamed to say it - WRETCHED - or is that just me? If I want to listen to BBC Radio2, or FM, or whatever, then I've got regular radio access, but in the PROMS? Blimey. Really this year's Proms has driven me away from R3.

Sorry you feel that way Draco, but I think this year’s proms has been outstanding with superb symphony performances in particular. Hopefully more to come.

              Beautiful.
Incidentally I think Michael Ferguson is the DoM, not Duncan Ferguson.
