    O Salutaris Hostia, but different

Attending [online] Solemn Evensong & Benediction at St Mary's, Bourne Street, London, yesterday I was delighted to hear the O Salutaris set to Parry's 'Jerusalem.' I thought it worked very well. Has anyone else heard this particular setting of the hymn?

Sung in Latin I presume?... or in an English translation?

In Latin. It's about 50 minutes in to this video.

The Oxford Oratory has been doing this for some
time, and the Brompton had similar to the tune Herford the other day.

All Saints Margaret St (who also stream E and B on Sunday evenings) has quite an extensive library of Benediction hymns adapted from other sources - notably bits of the Rachmaninov Vespers (Walter Vale invited SR to hear them sung at the church, along with the Mass setting he compiled from the same source). Bach, Schutz, Gibbons, Tallis, Beethoven, Schumann, Brahms, Monteverdi, Brahms, Boely, Josquin,Mendelssohn and Elgar have also had the treatment, to name just a few. Most DoMs there have added to the collection of these adaptations - it's a bit of a tradition.

Possibly my favourite of the tunes we use at the Brompton Oratory - that tenor line!
