    A shame that the final hymn was cut and we got 4 minutes of trailers etc. at the end instead. Perhaps the run-through was slower than the broadcast and they'd want to choose repertoire to showcase their organ for the reason given below.

    I did not know those Howells canticles, one of his more adventurous late settings. (My personal preference, but I'd take them over his New College setting!)

    This appears to be the first broadcast of evensong from Magdalen for 5 years (2020's had to be a repeat of an earlier one), and the first with the new (2023) organ. (On a related note there doesn't seem to have been an evensong broadcast from Christ Church Oxford, apart from archive repeats, for nearly 6 years.)
