This year’s Organ Recital series at Winchester Cathedral really does promise to show the wealth of styles and colour that their organ can offer. Andrew Lumsden, Director of Music at Winchester Cathedral starts the run at 4pm on Easter Monday, 25th April. Then come Paul Hale from Southwell Minster (7.45pm, 10th May), Simon Bell, Assistant Director at Winchester (24th May), another Bank Holiday date with Peter King from Bath Abbey at 4pm on 30th May, with Richard McVeigh, Winchester’s Assistant Organist rounding off the series at 7.45pm on Tuesday 7th June.
But that is not all as, on the August Bank Holiday (29th August), London-based Richard Hills will be performing at 4pm, featuring music not only from the classical organ repertoire, but also lighter music for the theatre organ. A treat not to be missed.
Truly a festival of what such a versatile instrument can offer, tickets for the Bank Holiday recitals are £10.25; £8.75 for the Tuesday events.
We also have a 'big screen' projector which has been a very popular new addition to organ recitals in the past year.
Please come along and enjoy some fine organ music with us and always be assured of a very warm welcome.
