    Changes to the Music Programme at Saint Thomas, NYC

    The vestry at Saint Thomas, Fifth Avenue have sent a letter to members of the church community announcing—due to budget issues—substantial changes to the music provision there, and in particular to the residential nature of the choir school. Carl Turner, the Rector, has published the below announcement in this week's parish news:

      Not really surprising. English choir schools had generally expanded to include non-choir pupils by the end of 19th century in order to be financially viable. The notable exception being Westminster Abbey which has been charging tourists to pay staff for hundreds of years on account of all its monuments.
