I thought the Zelenka was particularly beautiful. The programme is definitely worth Listen Again.

6.35am - BBC Radio 4: Sunrise Service - an Easter Day service from Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral
8.10am - BBC Radio 4: Sunday Worship from St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle

To Friday 29th should also be added, of course, a service of Holy Matrimony from the country's largest royal peculiar beginning at 11am...

Incidentally, this year's Royal Maundy Service was - exceptionally - televised live on BBC1, and is still available on the iPlayer.

is anyone watching the BBC2 Easter from King's programme? We have just had a very truncated Allegri Miserere, only two verses I think (not that I'm in any way complaining).

Yes mercia, I am... could have done without the Tchaikovsky...

The tenors seem to me to have a peculiar and unpleasant mix of voices and vibratos (esp in the "God shall wipe away all tears" phrases in the Bainton just now) which spoils the whole sound of the choir at the moment A pity, as the trebles sound very nicely blended....

The programme was recorded on December 10th last year just before the Nine Lessons to save money.

The congregation had to wear Spring clothing on a very cold day and spotlights were shone on the chapel windows from outside to mimic sunlight.

Perhaps you shouldn't blame the tenors they were obviously confused by the seasons!!

Not sure about the spotlight point - it occurred to me watching it that it had been filmed after dark: it was all candles and dark windows, as far as I can remember...

The look of the Christmas and Easter services are exactly the same - forgive me if it seems a naff idea to some, but wouldn't it be nice to have a few seasonal flowers or bits of greenery in the chapel to denote the time of year?

As enjoyable as it was, I do hope that Kings does not end up monopolising Easter as well as Christmas. Why not let St.Johns have a look in? Or from 'the other place', New College Choir Oxford?
