Strikingly and uncharacteristically unfocused critiques thus far from this forum. I wonder why?

The reception was very bad here so I couldn't really make out much of the service at all, but occasionally the choir managed to break through briefly. I wouldn't have described those instances as dull, but whether that was by contrast I don't know. I shall have to hope the ether is less obstructive for the Sunday repeat to decide that.

You’re right. I shouldn’t post if I’ve nothing to say. Choirs and DOMs deserve better consideration after hard work preparing a broadcast.

I thought it was a rather good evensong. The introit by Jack Oades and the treatment of it by the choir was anything but dull. The psalm singing was reflective and meditative. The anthem was perfect for Lent and well sung. Well done everybody (especially Tom Little) at Christ Church, Dublin.

I agree entirely, and would add a word of praise for the intoning of the responses.

In the past CEs from Dublin, I've really enjoyed the dynamism and style but this CE seemed strangely reticent and under-powered. Maybe me having a bad day.

...so did I. Forthright and well-communicated music-making. I enjoyed the rare appearance of FJ's 'Me in G' minor, and of course Aus tiefer Not is a must for Lent, sounding suitably grave on the fine Kenneth Jones / Flentrop organ.

Draco (and others): Thread title amended to reflect the fact that it's Christ Church (not Christchurch), in a test of my new editing permissions. I thought it would say who had done the tinkering, but it doesn't, so I'm fessing up here!

I copied the heading from the BBC online CE site.
It is NOT my authorship. Oddly, I expected the BBC to have posted it correctly.
                            Silly me.

Perhaps they've been alerted too, as the online schedule now reads:

                              Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin

                              Choral Evensong
Live from Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin with music by Jack Oades, Francis Jackson and Edward Bairstow.

However, the site then goes on to maintain that this was the music played (did the broadcast finish early, and this was a filler?):
