Hmmm. In Oxford, the choirs at Jesus, Lincoln, and St John's (and probably others) are directed by the organ scholars.

I do believe that the full quote is (if it is the same one that they used last year) that they are the only choir in either Oxford or Cambridge under the sole direction of the Organ Scholar who sing three services each week.

I do believe that to be true - although between 2012 and 2014, Worcester College (Oxford) operated without a professional chapel musician on the staff, the choirs (including one of boy trebles) being directed by the undergraduate Organ Scholars in four services each week. Since this September, however, a part-time Director of Music has been reintroduced.

I think they always were the only college to do that, usually with a "professional" choir: in my days they had 10 boys who attended Christ Church Choir School and choral scholars for the other parts.

Corpus, Cambridge for many years sang three weekly services (including 9am on Sundays!) with only organ scholars. They have a professional DoM now though.
