I love the piece, but I don't like it split up in that way - I think the way each movement grows out of the last is quite important.

I know what you mean, jean. In an ideal world, and all that. But given the constraints of a church service (even if not CE as we know it) I don't think a continuous performance would have been on the cards! As it is, the readings fitted in well with the gist of things, I thought.
