I don't recall there being more than 1 or at most 2 couples regualrly in the choir.

I think there'd been a fair amount of arm-twisting for the tour I went on, which was how I ended up going on it myself. I think the weaker halves of some of the couples may not have usually sung in the choir.

Personally I preferred the winter Gloucester/Pershore/Tewkesbury sessions, despite the chill, to the long slog of the Summer Festival despite the glories of Buckfast and Exeter.

I heard others in the Exon Singers (or perhaps I am remembering talking to you!) express the same preference for the winter session. I'd have loved to have done one - it is about the closest I've ever come to singing on an Evensong broadcast myself.
