There is absolutely nothing wrong with Pollyanna or (especially) Ballet Shoes!

We didn't have television when I was a teenager, which no doubt simplified life.

      I suspect it's very subjective (and gender-related!)
"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
      Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Muppet Show ,Sunday evening 7.15 (?)mid to late 70's...best Sunday night telly ever.

That is not subjective, that is a FACT.

OMG. That Genome thing is amazing. I've just found the SoP in which I played the organ back in the dark ages. Although it wasn't a live broadcast, it was done as if live [e.g. Ampex clock ticking round and a red light] and there were no re-takes. It was a sequence of hymns introduced by a presenter. The programme also included a couple of unaccompanied anthems.

It is amazing isn't it, ardy.

Go on, sling a link to the day when your organ spectacular was screened!

It all sounds like SingUp and its diabolical "Big Sings" for children.

I watched it. That'll be the last time. Trying to please everyone will please no-one.

I was waiting for an Amazon Logistics delivery and therefore in a bad mood to start with

Not one of their new airships, surely?

The cliché about babies and bathwater springs to mind. How is it that so often the innovators fail to separate the essential elements that ought to be retained from those that genuinely no longer serve?

It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

A local school that has had the most superb annual carol service with a huge and excellent choir, singing with great enthusiasm - is to dump the traditional format and replace it with Slade etc., against the wishes of the excellent head of music. How stupid is that?

It was as awful as I guessed it would be. As for featuring the lottery, well! There are many Christians, ourselves included, who consider ANY form of gambling to be sinful, and who would be highly offended at this unnecessary juxtaposition of gambling with Christianity. Terrible.
