Missa Papae Marcelli - yesterday's Eucharist from Truro Cathedral

This is a live recording of the Sung Eucharist at Truro Cathedral on Sunday 6th July 2014. Truro Cathedral Choir sings the Kyrie, Gloria, Sanctus, Benedictus, Agnus Dei I and Agnus Dei II from Palestr

A rare webcast from Truro for Palestrinaphiles.

Listen to the whole service, or pick and mix from the menu. Includes all of the Mass except the Credo.
NB Introit in south aisle is distant from microphones in quire; sound is clearer thereafter, though organ-heavy in hymns.
Altos enjoying the top F in final hymn Londonderry. Duruflé Toccata to finish.

A pity no webcast of previous Sunday's Lutheran Vespers incl. Bach Cantatas (192 & 117) with orch. either side of the sermon!

Very fine singing, great dignity and unhurried pacing. Trebles rich and aware of what is going on round them, and the men not shouldering them aside, as a number of choirs one could name do in such repertoire, but supporting and asserting as the music demanded. Benedictus sound as if it was OVPP - at least in part?

So sad that we do not get to hear Mr Gray's terrific choir more often on R3.

    Durufle a knockout as well!!

Keep your eyes open over the next few days as I believe another may follow from this morning. I was there - it featured the complete Kodaly 'Missa Brevis' (including the Introitus, Credo and Ite, Missa Est) - definitely worth hearing!
