      This is a bit worrying....

You will be expected to find new ways of interacting with and engaging the audience through social media

Can we expect tweets before and after (and maybe during) the Mag and Nunc?

Is this actually a thread that needs to be pursued? It's a 6mths fixed term contract post, and not specifically to do with Choral Evensong - is it?
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

            Sounds like an intern job?
BUT I agree not particularly interesting enough to pursue - apart from the terms of reference, which look a tad ominous in parts.

Perhaps just adjust the thread title - there are a lot of programmes, not just on R3, that seem to be included.

If you think it unwise to pursue the subject, FF, then obviously we'll desist. However I think it was quite interesting that Wolsey spotted this job advert and brought it to our attention. Maybe as a last throe I'll post it in full:

                Job Introduction

BBC Religion & Ethics is an award winning, bi-media department within BBC Salford .The BBC Radio Worship team produces a wide range of live music and worship programmes mainly for Radios 3 and 4. These include Sunday Worship, the Daily Service, Choral Evensong, and Prayer for the Day. As well as special services from Westminster Abbey and St Pauls, and seasonal programmes at Christmas, Easter and Remembrance the team also runs BBC Radio 2’s Young Choristers of the Year.

                Role Responsibility

Your role will be to produce BBC Religion & Ethics, in-house, Radio Worship output. Within this role you’ll be developing original ideas for themes and contributors, as well as producing at outside broadcasts across the UK. You will work collaboratively with the Series Producer and Head of Radio, Religion & Ethics as well as with both new and established contributors, choirs and musicians and clergy. You will be expected to find new ways of interacting with and engaging the audience through social media and collaborating to maximise the footprint of the Radio Worship output.

                The Ideal Candidate

You will have experience of producing live music at outside broadcasts; including choirs and solo singers, and of producing speech programmes with a range of contributors. You will have a passion for producing worship programmes, as well as a working knowledge of the major world faiths. You will have a strong, first-hand knowledge of music from a broad range of Christian churches; including choral repertoire. A demonstrable ability to generate ideas for worship programmes across the broadest range of spiritualties and denominations is also beneficial.

It does not appear to be an unimportant job, and impinges on many of the programmes which those involved in church music are interested in. It seems to imply some 'hands-on' producing, so the person appointed may well have some effect on the way these broadcasts are shaped and presented.

BTW, the phrase 'broadest range of spiritualities' is a bit toe-curling.

Yes, I read that, ardcarp - and I downloaded the job description. My main concern was the thread title which suggested a specific vacancy for Choral Evensong (I have now altered the thread title), rather than for programmes on R3 and R4. For those interested who wish to discuss it, it's:

Job Title - Radio Producer – BBC Radio Worship
Department: Religion & Ethics Department, MediaCity, Salford
                  Grade: 7D
                  Attachment/Fixed Term Contract – 6 Months FTC .
It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.

OK, on re-reading the entire job spec, and although I take on board FF's caveats, but, actually, an appointment like the one outlined cannot be uninteresting to us on R3?
