    Through the Night 19.04 14

Catriona Young's selection includes Orthodox choral music from Eastern and Central Europe.

Orthodox Christian Easter choral music from Eastern and Central Europe
Looks like a varied and engaging programme.

NB: BBC website cannot spell 'Christian'. Ahem.

I note that most of the music is NOT for Easter.

Why is this scheduled for the day BEFORE Easter?

        Ahem.

Clearing throat on discovering a significant and apparently unspotted spelling mistake on a BBC site..................

The Russian Orthodox Easter service starts on Saturday evening and goes on for several hours through the night usually finishing early on Easter day.

I know that. I shall be there, as I have been every year since 1967 (with one exception when I was ill).

But this programme is Saturday MORNING.

Well, you'll be able to stay in and listen then, won't you? You'd miss it if it was broadcast a day later while you're attending the service, wouldn't you?

You are missing the point that Easter music BEFORE Easter (when Christians are still remembering the crucifixion and burial of Christ) is not appropriate. Easter properly goes on for a week, so there is plenty of time in later days to broadcast Easter music.
