Disposal of sheet music and vocal scores

Does anyone know of a place that takes old sheet music and vocal scores (there's loads) much of which has been left to us by deceased musical friends and has lain unused for donkey's years. It is such a waste to send the music to the recycling bin but nobody wants it.

Oxfam shop! (There are some which specialise in music.)

Seems obvious now but I hadn't thought of it! Just rang our local Oxfam and they're happy to take it. Many thanks for the suggestion.

There could be untold treasures lurking within.

Indeed I was in their Penzance shop some time ago and I asked if they had any sheet music and was invited to peruse their unsorted stock ‘round the back’ and there was a fair selection - I purchased a book of Mozart Piano Music and restrained myself from buying other things which I would never have the time or ability to play!

I realise I have discovered this thread a bit late now and by now you most probably have given unwanted music scores to Oxfam book shop.
I have been looking for The Piano duet part only , of Saint Saen's , Organ Symphony. I don't know if you may have come across this piece or if its been made available.
I did try my local Oxfam shop where they do have a collection of music books and scores. But they didn't have what I was looking for.

              :)

I took a lot of my Mum's old piano musicto the local Cancer charity as I think it probably has little appeal since it largely consisted on pop music from the 1950s.

I am trying to sell my Mum's 1981 Challen upright piano and wondered if anyone had any suggestions.

Do you need to sell it? We gave our (admittedly much older than 1981) upright Chappell piano to a young (i.e school age) pianist who was very pleased to have the real thing after using an electronic keyboard. The only proviso was that the recipient paid for and arranged professional removal (we'll their parents did obviously.)

Maybe contact local music teachers to see if they or any of their pupils need and could find room for a piano, at least two of my wife's young pupils use electronic keyboards and one in the past has taken an upright from us.

For the piano part you want, try IMSLP.

                      Probably here - https://imslp.org/wiki/Special:IMSLP.../37911%2Ftofpg

You should be able to see a complete score of the 3rd Symphony, but if you click on the Parts tab you should also be able to isolate just the piano part you need.

When I moved to Devon in 2017, I disposed of a chunk of my sheet music beforehand, only to find out (when I finally got there) how much I regretted my haste. In had to trawl the 'web' in order to make good the loss, sometimes without success.
