New and recent Mahler recordings

Difficult to believe that it's almost a year without any new Mahler - or, at least, not worthy of discussion. So, just appeared:
Mahler: Symphony No 7 in E minor
Budapest Festival Orchestra/Iván Fischer (as a DSD 128 something download)
As I'm a DSD-newbie and therefore experimenting with Audirvana + filters/settings (and the new Mytek DAC), I'm sure that I'm not listening to it in optimum form - but it sounds pretty good to me. But the third movement (my litmus test for all Mahler 7ths) passes muster so a from me.

And, released on 15th of this month, F-X Roth's new recording of the Third Symphony, with the Gurzenich Orchestra of Cologne (the orchestra that gave the first performance in 1902, conducted by the composer) on Harmonia Mundi, with Sara Mingardo the Alto soloist:

Recording venue is the spacious Kölner Philharmonie, which is distinctly preferable to the WDR venue (??) used for the 5th. Need to listen to it again but it grabbed my attention rather more than some other performances I can think of. BTW, the Ivan Fischer 7th, now that I have tamed the DSD/DAC combination, is well worth the detour. Pace Dan, rather more interesting than Jansons.
And yes, the change of venue for Roth's M3 - review in the editorial queue - is all gain; the Fifth was recorded in the Studio Stolberger Straße, Cologne.Last edited by mahlerei; 12-02-19, 15:34.

I still think the sound of the Haitink era Concertgebouw takes some beating.
