Perhaps a contributing factor is that a performing and recording tradition of Bruckner 9 had developed before a reconstructed fourth movement had come about. Whereas with Mahler 10, there was no such tradition to contend with.

- the three extant movements of Bruckner's Ninth were first performed (sort-of: there were many "editorial ammendments") seven years after Bruckner died - the Adagio & Purgatorio movements of the Tenth thirteen years after Mahler's - the performing version of the complete score not until fifty years after. Moreover, Cooke's work on the Tenth coincided with the resurgence of interest in the composer following his centenary year: it became widely known to the general public at the same time as the preceding nine.

Boulez is another conductor who prefers raw Mahler to Cooked. It is worth remembering that there is more Mahler (even as a "percentage") in the Cooke edition of the Tenth than there is Mozart in the "Mozart Requiem".

I have listened to the Berliner/Rattle recording quite a few times now and I feel that Derycke Cooke's version is about as near perfect a realisation to Mahler as we are going to get. I rather like it.

It's a Quebec CD, so they probably add the costs of translating all the blurb from the obscure language they speak there into the world's lingua franca

However, he has shown himself quite happy to conduct performances of, and record, stuff discarded by Mahler, namely Waldmärchen. Not that much of a purest then.
