Learning that Brassbandmaestro is to do a re-arrangement of Mahler 6 movement 1 has massively raised the respect in which I hold him. Next we'll be learning that he's been approached for a reduction of The Gothic!
Mahler arrangements.... (of esp. interest to Bbm!)

The Austin Bowie High School Wind Emsemble playing "Finale to Symphony No. 3" by Mahler at their end of the year concert in May 2009.
(Because of the static camera in that clip, you don't see the brass and percs, but boy, do you hear them!)
EDIT: this arrangement, by Richard Saucedo, appears also to be an abridgement - so there's room for an arrangement of the whole Movement!
RE-EDIT: There's also another arrangement of the Movement by Jimmie Howard Reynolds, but the youTube clip isn't clear whether this is also an abridgement, or whether the clip is an extract from the complete movement.

Have you booked your tickets yet, Bbm? You were going to take Mrs Bbm on a glorious whirlwind North American tour weren't you?"...the isle is full of noises,
Sounds and sweet airs, that give delight and hurt not.
Sometimes a thousand twangling instruments
Will hum about mine ears, and sometime voices..."

Fortunately I'm at work so couldn't hear it really - but I'm assuming there's a thematic link? Don't know the song and that's the way it's gonna stay!!

There really ought to be a ban or at least a warning on musical cross-references that can torpedo a great work!!!!
(I've ignored the various examples above when it was clear from the first few words that people were a-spoiling!!)"...the isle is full of noises,
