Does that help?
Thing is with CDs you get to hear what you choose. On R3 you often get what some marketing bod thinks other people might want to hear, if they don't find the tone of the presenter too challenging.
or something.
Incidentally, lots of people think that this board performs part of the functions that R3 used to hold do.
Its where I come to learn about music.I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

But then don't you ever buy a CD because you heard that particular piece on the radio first?

Yes, hearing music new to me on the radio and rushing out to buy it is very special to me. I was brought up with John Peel shows.
But unfortunately daytime R3 doesn't perform that function for me, and evenings and weekends I can use more profitably learning from music recommended by Board members, or that I can discover myself.
I'm sure I miss a lot by not listening to Hear and now, Late Junction, TTN, etc more often, but when some techno bod enables me to "listen again" in my car, that will be resolved !I will not be pushed, filed, stamped, indexed, briefed, debriefed or numbered. My life is my own.

For the rest: I prefer my own music collection.

This forum is provided (as a non profit private enterprise :-) ) to replace the messageboards that the BBC (income £3.5bn) said it couldn't afford any more.It isn't given us to know those rare moments when people are wide open and the lightest touch can wither or heal. A moment too late and we can never reach them any more in this world.
