... and finally, also from the same Huddersfield concert as mask, the first performance of entoptic for percussion and live electronics with the intrepid Peter Neville, continuing a thirty-year collaboration which has now involved two solo pieces, a percussion trio and many parts in ensemble music. This time with link!

Facebookers among forum members might have noticed this already, but here is something new to listen to:

The full 8-channel surround version was premiered yesterday in Paris, at the annual "Acousma" festival of the Groupe de Recherches Musicales. The vocal material (recorded by my daughter Siân and based on Georg Trakl's poem "De Profundis" although it doesn't yet appear in comprehensible form) might be familiar to those who heard the trombone piece membrane in London a few months ago; both pieces are components of a large cycle of compositions lasting around three hours eventually, which should have its complete premiere next September in Australia.

Now back to writing actual notes for actual instruments.

I saw that you'd posted that electronic composition yesterday, but I didn't listen to it since I was in transit. I'll listen now.

              Lucky Australians!

People not on FB might be interested in some news regarding FURT, if I may be excused the following plug...

On our Bandcamp label https://furtlogic.bandcamp.com/ we've just uploaded two new albums:

SINK was recorded in 1993 and released back then on cassette; this is its first appearance in digital form. It was actually commissioned by Philip Tagney at Radio 3 and performed in the concert hall at BH without an audience; one of the two pieces was broadcast on Mixing It, while the other, which didn't come out so well at the BBC, was recorded again a couple of months later. The title (and various aspects of the music) is a reference to book 3 of Alasdair Gray's Lanark, which we were highly involved with at the time; the fact that the reissue takes place a very short time after his death is a strange coincidence.

Accident & Emergency is a document of our last live performance, at the Auditorio Pollini in Padua less than a month ago. It was our first full concert as a duo for quite some time and is a pretty good representation of the current “state of the art”.

(Streaming is free, FLAC downloads 8 euros per album.)

As mentioned earlier, also available on QOBUZ, including a 24 bit option. The later still restricted to 44.1kHz sample rate, however. There is pdf of the booklet there, too.
