Robert Craft did, but he's dead, so we can't ask him.

According to WIKIQuotes (under "W H Auden: Misattributed"):

Music is the best means we have of digesting time.
A quotation from Igor Stravinsky, not Auden. Cited as Auden's through a misreading of a paragraph in Stravinsky: Chronicle of a Friendship, by Robert Craft (New York: Alfred A. Knopf, 1972), p. 6. (The antecedent of "he" is unmistakably "Mr. S." in Craft's sentence: "He also makes a marvelous remark to the effect that 'Music is the best means we have of digesting time'"; and in the sentence that follows "he" is again Stravinsky, not Auden.)
Checking that source, it is indeed Igor who originated the phrase - as the previous sentence is all about Stravinsky's anxiety about the quality of the table and tablecloth ("mr S's fuss about a wobble in the table, his annoyance with a butter-fingered waiter, his obsession with scraping up crumbs, and his exculpatory rubbing out two spots on the tablecloth (what is he apologizing for?). He also makes a marvellous ... "

This was a memorable occasion for Craft - his first real meeting with Stravinsky, and he witnesses the composer's first sighting of the libretto of The Rake's Progress (which Auden has given Craft a "sneaky peek" at before he shows it to the composer) at the lunch with Stravinsky, the composer's wife, and the librettists Auden and Kalman.

So - yes; it should be Stravinsky cited as the originator of the quotation.

Getting back to the original thread (ahem), just found from the SymphonyCast program page this archived broadcast that includes MW's Violin Concerto, with Gidon Kremer, MG-T and the LA Phil:

Sol Gabetta has a feature on Weinberg from her show KlickKlack, for those who want to brush up their German, with mention of this summer's Cello Concerto performance @ The Proms:

Finally got round to listening to Weinberg’s Symphony no 21 in Mirga’s recording. I found it very moving and compelling .

I really like the new album with Mirga and I also dug out my Chandos recording of the Cello Concerto, which is a gorgeous piece of music
