Has anyone seen Philippe Cathé's book on Koechlin? How is it? Does it have a decent index?

No I've not seen that, I only know Robert Orledge's below, my local library had a copy which I took out a couple of times. I'd like to buy a copy as it's very well written, but as you see it's very expensive!

(By the way Jean Michel Nectoux's Fauré book is excellent, the big one - Les voix du clair-obscur -- I'm quite curious about his book on Debussy.)Last edited by Mandryka; 06-06-24, 11:53.

A couple of others that have come my way that I've enjoyed are, Brian Rees's 'Camille Saint-Saëns - A Life' and, another rarity, Jean Cras, Polymath of Music and Letters, by Paul-André Bempéchat..........the latter a really authoritative account of a fascinating multi-facetted man.
