It isn't, though, is it - it is one additional entry.

You could have been halfway through completing it instead of a repetitive post if you had a mind.

      Not happy as it's provocative!
C’mon Lat, you know me well enough to know I’m not being provocative!

I’m just saying that spending time on getting, for example, Zemlinsky, Grieg et al 'listed on the board', is time consuming and can result in OPs that don’t say very much.

I know I don’t have to say this, but your input is very much appreciated.

The Grieg thread already has several posts on it.

The contributions say a lot to me if not to you.

They might say a lot to others.

The Varese thread - I've been reading it - it looks like a fist fight so perhaps it is that sort of morning.

        Thanks for your thanks.

The direct answer is I searched for Couperin, I probably searched for Rameau and I know I didn't search for Scarlatti.

I am happy to have a look at those three today and let you know.

Looks as though I did kick off a Brahms thread - thanks for dealing with that.

              Some biggies still missing -

              Beethoven
              Mahler
              Puccini
              Verdi
              Wagner

And if you're looking for an 'X' someone'd better write a post on Xenakis, or trawl through what we have so far.

              Great effort.

Could add in tags as well to some posts, but really good so far. Thanks to all doing the heavy lifting.

Ferney has dealt with your Brahms post, yes, and Mahler is there in a sub forum. You are right about the other three in that list which are likely to emerge organically, ie when someone wants to start a thread on them. Notes 7 and 8 in Post 121 say more if you are interested.

As far as I can see, there are two named threads specifically about the Scarlattis (one, I think, just on the main one). They begin with references to the EMS which is the way of many of the EM threads. That is the structure of that section - Doversoul especially links comment to specific programmes (appropriate for a R3 Forum!) and it wouldn't be fair to her - or even apt - to take those threads away from their context. There are some threads on Rameau that are not in that pattern - a CotW thread but we are not interfering with that section as again it is to a structure, bits and pieces about local recitals or works, and the three links below, one of which could conceivably be moved to be the basis of new discussion. The main Couperin thread I found is a french frank one specifically on a week of performances. That again would not be appropriate for the new composers' thread.

                  Rameau:

The Early Music Show, Early Music Late; Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque and HIPP on Radio 3 and elsewhere

The Early Music Show, Early Music Late; Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque and HIPP on Radio 3 and elsewhere

If you feel that one of the above would be right to move and you would like it to be moved, do say - and similarly on if you spot any threads that you think can be helpfully moved.

What? No Morton Feldman thread (as yet)? His works get discussed here now and then.

Of the named threads, Bryn, there was one on a programme (TTN), one specifically on a performance, one on a specific disc and one about him and Birtwistle.

It will probably need a new thread if you wish to discuss it in this section.

Feldman is now up and running, too. I'll get through all suggestions, it'll just take a little time.

Thanks for the new thread, Bryn.

Good idea! However it could turn into a slanging match between people who like certain composers and those who don't - apologies if someone has already said this but I don't have time to read all 15 pages...
                              Best regards,

It could - but it hasn't in the various Threads that have been gathered so far (people who don't like a composer tend to avoid Threads on them; and posts "against" a composer have mainly been civilly put and received. It seems to be living or recently living composers that evoke the greatest heat. I think the positive potentials of the new Sub-Forum outweigh possible "negatives". So far, so good!
