    Lutosawski.

No - my machine simply doesn't want to do it!

        Lutosławski

Ah! It does for me, too, if I use the site "pad" to write out the word and then copy the result to the Forum. Will be useful when Lutosławski is added to the list of composers on the sub-Forum - and when I know I'm going to write "Lutosławski" in a post quite a few times - but not as speedy as the Alt symbols method for ö (for example) if I were only going to mention Lutosławski once in a post.

One last round from me. Not sure what I will find as I had exhausted most of it. Anyway, see updates on this post over a period of time (today).

            R Strauss - http://www.for3.org/forums/showthrea...chestral-music

Not sure that we have a Beethoven, Wagner or Verdi so if anyone feel like starting one (or two or three)?

Other major ones I can't locate include:

Janacek, Grieg, Satie, Copland, Walton, Schoenberg, Stravinsky, Barber, Mussorgsky, Dvorak, Liszt, Telemann, Tallis and Puccini.

There is Schubert on 3 and Ravel Day but those are fairly specific to the features.

I did suggest a Brahms from Dave2002 but perhaps it wasn't appropriate?

Apologies - and I will edit the above post to reflect it.

If you have any others on that list-in-progress, that would be great.

Perhaps I or we were Brahms and Liszt at the time???

I don't know about the moving bit, but if it helps we could all try to track down our own posts with reference to specific composers, and then edit them to put obvious tags in on the posts. That should make finding them easier for those who are copying the posts. I'll see if I can find any.

Brahms and Beethoven do seem to be missing right now, though I looked for Glazunov whom I know I've written about before, and there are some posts there, including at least some of mine.

Perhaps from now on if we do post and mention a composer in any serious way we should be encouraged to put tags in. We can argue about whether the tags should be capitalised - e.g 'Beethoven' or not 'beethoven'

                    Thank you.

(It was in post 83 but declined for some reason - probably too sophisticated)

The bottom three links in your #83 didn't work on my computer for some reason (a couple of others, too - don't know why those and not others, but Computer said "No!").

There are also a few Threads that I can access, but for some (presumably) other reason those do not allow me to "Administrate" them! And I'm keeping the "Favourite Recordings"-type Threads in the "Record Review" Forum for now.

But it's now half-past One, and I'm going to have some lunch - even Köchel was allowed a lunch break!

Ah, so it is possible that we might include them at some point.

                        We'll see.

I doubt I will find many more.

This, though, possibly if we want Radigue - http://www.for3.org/forums/showthrea...Eliane-Radique

Actually, you have got Grainger in so it is just Delius and Brahms from that post.

I've just found this alternative for Delius - http://www.for3.org/forums/showthrea...ius-recordings

I will try to find Dave's Brahms post again.

What is the qualification for inclusion in this thread? Things are moving so fast I've missed how it works. I suggested John Dowland (1563-1626) upthread, because there was a thread around Tess Knighton's BAL survey of Dowland recordings which I thought made a useful starting point. Although this was a BAL, it was a very useful overview rather than being about a particular work. Perhaps the thread could be re-titled John Dowland (1563-1626) ?? Or does what goes on BAL, stay on BAL ?

And, more recently, Martin lost his booklet, leading to this , which could be grafted on.....

Right - I think that now all composer-specific links suggested by Forumistas have now been moved to the sub-Forum (mostly from Talking About Music. Other posts and threads originating in Record Review, Early Music, Performance, Hear & Now threads have been copied here - at least, I think so: as copied Threads are still listed under their original Threads (where they remain, of course) it isn't as easy to see which have been successfully "transferred".

Current discussions of Essential Shostakovich Recordings (or similar) are staying where they are for the time being. And Threads on the lines of those containing three posts responding to the title Which are your favourite recordings of the Chopin 'cello Sonata? (one of which referring to a transcription for Viola) are also staying put, at least for the time being. I shall do "sentry duty" on the existing Threads in the sub-Forum, and, if a useful link occurs to me that would add to the Thread (such as one to the WIKI article, or suchlike) I will add it.

I hope Forumistas will feel free to treat all Threads as "open", to resuscitate long-dormant discussions of composers, to add new links they think might be useful additions - and, of course, to continue pointing out Threads I've overlooked.

Many thanks from me too to all those involved in creating the new subforum.

My 'search' skills (even for my own postings!) do not seem good enough to track some comments down, and in any event they might fall into the 'copy' not 'move' category, which might still be under consideration, but (as an example) I remember a series of postings (you, me, RichardB, and probably others) about the Tippett symphonies (not sure which thread: Performance, after the BBCSSO concert, or What are you listening to) and other Tippett works that could be brought into the new Tippett thread.
Only when you plan having another lazy day with nothing else to do, of course.
